We have many volunteer opportunities available at the shelter, whether you like working with cats, dogs, or would rather just help us with the cleaning or laundry! We particularly need volunteers on nights and weekends. If you're interested in helping, please contact our volunteer coordinator Celeste Dixon at volunteer@pawneehumane.com .
In addition, we need volunteers for our fundraising events. Some of the events that we hold regularly include "Fill the Truck" where we bring pickup trucks to local stores and ask customers to supply us with dog and cat food donations; animals on display at Orscheln's; and our Annual Dog Swim at the Larned Swimming Pool. In addition, we regularly volunteer at the movie theater, have an annual calendar contest, hold a raffle, sell t-shirts, and have events at the shelter (including a 5k and 10K race and a Fall Festival). We could always use a helping hand with any of these endeavors!
Finally, we need volunteers to provide pet therapy for our local senior citizens. This is a very important program that has been postponed in recent months. If you would like to provide an elderly person with some animal companionship, the PCHS can provide a dog or cat to bring with you (you can also bring your own dog or cat assuming he or she is well mannered!).
