Volunteer Spotlight - Macy Haas
High school sophomore Macy Haas been volunteering at the shelter since the Spring of 2015. She decided to volunteer because she loves dogs and thought it would be something fun to do. Turns out she was right. She has lots of fun when she comes out to help with the dog care one evening a week. She loves being able to see the dogs every week and also enjoys the other volunteers she works with. And , of course, there's all that fun she has doing it!
Macy has her own dog at home, an English Setter that she enjoys taking walks with. When she's not volunteering she likes playing tennis, watching Nextflix and hanging out with her friends. Macy tried out basketball at school last year but decided it wasn't her thing.
Macy is one of several youth volunteers we have helping out at the shelter. If you're a young person looking for something to do that's guaranteed to be both fun and rewarding, get in touch with our volunteer coordinator, Reva Preeo. You can catch her at the shelter during open hours or on her cell phone, 620-804-1730. You can also email her at volunteer@pawneehumane.com.

Did you know that PCHS is run almost completely by volunteers?
Except for our shelter manager and the DOC inmates who do animal care during the week, all the jobs done to help care for the animals and keep the shelter running are done by volunteers. There are many ways you can help. Whether you'd like to help with direct animal care, or raise the much needed funds to keep the shelter open, there is a spot for you in our organization. It's easy to become a volunteer for PCHS. Just follow the steps below and you'll be helping the homeless pets of Larned and Pawnee County in no time. 1) Check out all the volunteer opportunities we have and figure out which one is right for you. 2) Fill out a volunteer application. You can fill out this online form and email it to our volunteer coordinator, or download a PDF version and bring it to the shelter. 3) Attend a volunteer orientation. They're held on Monday evenings from 6 to 7 pm at the shelter. 4) Commit yourself. We don't require a set schedule, but we do ask our volunteers to commit to a minimum of one shift per month. Once you've completed all these steps we'll make sure you get the training you need to perform any of the volunteer jobs you've chosen. |
We are unable to accommodate anyone seeking community service hours. |
